Athan Stephanopoulos
Athan Stephanopoulos has spent more than 25 years working at the intersection of media and technology, and currently operates in an advisory capacity focused on innovation between media and AI. Most recently, he served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of CNN Worldwide, where he was responsible for overseeing the digital business globally.
Mr. Stephanopoulos joined CNN after a decade at NowThis, where he served as President and led the brand to become one of the largest and fastest growing digital news publishers for a Gen Z and Millennial audience. Under his leadership, he guided the brand through the integration into Group Nine Media in 2019, where he sat on the executive leadership team and helped lead key strategic initiatives and partnerships. He again guided the brand through the integration into Vox Media following their acquisition of Group Nine. Prior to NowThis, he was the Founder and CEO of Cliptamatic, a social video distribution platform that was acquired by NowThis in 2014.
Mr. Stephanopoulos is a graduate of Willamette University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and religious studies and holds an MBA in Communications and Media Management from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business. He has also served on the Board of Advisors and as an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Business. Mr. Stephanopoulos is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations.
